Pecans and toffee seem to be very popular now, so here is a recipe that combines the two with a Brownie favorite.

1 cup butter

5 – 1 oz. squares unsweetened chocolate, chopped

2 cups sugar

5 large eggs

2 cups flour

1/2 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon vanilla

1 cup chopped pecans

1/2 cup toffee bits

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with heavy duty aluminum foil.  In a small microwave bowl, melt butter and chocolate in microwave on High in 30 second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth (about 1-1/2 minutes).  In a large bowl, combine chocolate mixture and sugar.  Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer until well blended.  Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.  Add flour, salt and vanilla, beating until just combined.  Spread batter into prepared pan.  Bake for 10 minutes.  Sprinkle pecans and toffee bits evenly on top of brownie, and bake for 20 to 25 minutes more, or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out still slightly sticky.  Let cool completely in pan on wire rack.  Using a serrated knife, cut brown into 24 squares.
