Here is a recipe for baked beans that I like almost as much as I like the baked beans you can buy at Honeybaked Ham.

8 slices bacon, cut into 1/2 inch piece

2 – 16 oz cans pork and beans

1 onion, diced

1/2 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar

1/4 cup ketchup

3 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice ( I substituted vinegar)

In a medium skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until crisp.  Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.  Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.   Rinse and drain one can of pork and beans.  In a Dutch oven, combine rinsed beans and all remaining ingredients.  Top bean mixture with cooked bacon.  Cover and bake for an hour or until hot and bubbly.
