The above photo shows the “cook wagon” during the summer harvest, September, 1914, on the Drumheller Ranch near Walla Walla, Washington.  The woman leaning out the back of the wagon is my great aunt, Anna L. Faulkner, and the man sitting in front of the little tent is her husband, Lon Faulkner.  If you go back to one of my earlier posts titled, “One of My Very Favorite Photos,” you can read more about this amazing little woman.  Here she and her husband had taken work during the harvest.  He worked with the 20 mule teams hauling the grain, and Aunt Annie cooked in the wagon for the men who did not have time to leave the fields to eat at the ranch.  I can only imagine how hot it got in that cook wagon.  Below is a photo of one of the harvest wagons, and in this case, I think it’s a 22 mule team!  I think that’s a thrasher on the right but not one hundred percent certain.
