IRISH SHEEP

When you drive around the back roads of Ireland, you encounter a lot of sheep.  Even in 2014, if you are far enough off the motorways and main roads, you’ll find them standing or laying on the road.   This one was about ten feet from the car when I took the photo.  On Achill Island (County Mayo) in 2000, we encountered half a dozen of them laying on the road.  Honking did no good.  We had to get out of the car and shoo them out of the way.
