This is another one of my favorite photos.  As near as I can tell, this was taken in the mid to late 1890’s, and the two seated on the right are my great uncles, Eli Preston (Pres) McMenus and Joseph Wesley (Jode) McMenus.  This was taken before either of them had married or gone into business.  As I reported earlier, Pres was a local businessman in Phillipsburg, Missouri, and brother Jode went into business in the little town of Rader, which was nearby.  I can’t remember if Rader is in Laclede County or not…but now that I think about it,  it may be in neighboring Webster County since it is not too far from Niangua.

Aren’t they a handsome bunch?  I sent this photo to the Lebanon Daily Record and Kirk Pierce printed it, hoping to get more information on the unidentified men, but alas, nothing turned up.  The only other thing I know about this photo is that it was taken in a Lebanon Photo Studio.
