JOSEPH McMENUS and SONS – 1890’s

This photo was taken in the early 1890’s in Lebanon, Missouri and it shows Joseph McMenus and his five sons.   From left, Joseph (Jode) seated, William Grant (Willie) standing, youngest son John Frederick (Johnny) standing, eldest son Elmer standing, father Joseph McMenus seated, and on the far right, Eli Preston (Press) McMenus.  There were two daughters who survived, Matilda Anna Laura (Annie) and Inez, and two babies died at birth, the McMenus’ first child, and their last (another boy).  Daughter Sarah died at the age of 15 months from an illness.  The mother of all these children was Rebecca Frances Smith McMenus.
