MAIL BOAT and TRAIN STATION, DUN LAOGHAIRE, Ireland

013x1This is a photo circa 1940’s of the train station and harbour at Dun Laoghaire, County Dublin, Ireland.  Note the mail boat had arrived from the UK, and there is a long line of people in the front bottom of the image.  Were they lining up to get on a train?  The train station was replaced by teh DART station which is located to the left of this image, and the old train station is now a restaurant.

  1. The small white ship in the background at the little jetty on the East pier is the Larssen, then marketed as “Dublin’s Pleasure Boat” which plied it’s trade in Dublin and Dun Laoghaire from about 1951-’53
