KINGSTOWN/DUN LAOGHAIRE circa 1915 – County Dublin, Ireland

018Until the time that Ireland became a republic, Dun Laoghaire was known as Kingstown.  It’s a port that has always been the ferry link between Holyhead, Wales in the UK and Ireland.  This is an old photo that shows Kingstown in the distance from Sandycove.  The photo below shows the same view in the 1950’s.  The photo at the bottom was taken in 1998 and is a more contemporary view.  Dun Laoghaire is just a few miles south fo Dublin down the coast in County Dublin

  1. How lovely to see these photos – When I left Ireland with my parents (I was 7) we took the ferry from Dun Laoghaire ‘across the water’.
