Mother, Peg & Bryne at Home in Ireland

scan0010This real photo postcard shows three family members at home in Ireland, I would guess in either the late 1940’s or early 1950’s.  I bought this image on eBay.  The boy’s name is interesting because it is definitely spelled Bryne on the back of the card.  I am wondering if it was a misspelling of Brian…?  It doesn’t appear to be a common name in Ireland.  The girl’s dress and boy’s jacket are what I am using to estimate the age of the photo.  Mother standing in door is wearing less modern clothes.  Cute little dog next to Bryne!

  1. Well Byrne is a surname associated with Ireland, though I haven’t heard it as a first name.

    • Yes, BYRNE is a common surname, but this is definitely B-R-Y-N-E.
