H.D. BROWN, Artist – Kingstown (Dun Laoghaire), Ireland,

001When I first came across this photo, I thought it was taken by a photographer in Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire) Ireland during the 1880’s.  However, on closer inspection, it could be an advertising card for an artist from London, H.D. Brown, who was located on Lower Georges Street, Kingstown.  Note the pencil drawings on the reverse of the card.  It’s smaller than the usual carte de visite of the period.  Unless the artist was also a photographer and this was one of his photos, I think this may be the artist, whom I could find nothing about on the internet.  There was an artist, H.L. Brown in Kingstown in 1882, so maybe they were related.  See below.
