GIANT’s CAUSEWAY – Northern Ireland – 1905

001BThis part of The Giant’s Causeway in Northern Ireland is known as the Organ.  It is a cliff of columns about 130 feet high along the north coast of what is now Northern Ireland.  This is from a stereoview card in 1905.

  1. That’s a great photo; I think the only other place that has basalt column formations like the Causeway (besides Scotland) is in Africa. Beautiful and eerily symmetrical.

    • There is a National Park in California called the Devil’s Post Pile. The columns are much more slender, however. I was there once when I was a teenager. The family took driving trips around the US stopping at various national parks etc.
