I had a whole lot of peaches that were very ripe last Sunday and I made this simple peach cobbler.  It’s wonderful with ice cream or whipped cream.


4 cups peeled, sliced peaches

2 cups sugar, divided

1/2 cup water

8 tablespoons butter

1-1/2 cups self rising flour

1-12 cups milk

ground cinnamon, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Combine peaches, one cup sugar and water in a saucepan and mix well.  Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes.  Removed from heat.  Put the butter in a 3 quart baking dish and place in oven to melt.  Mix remaining 1 cup sugar, flour and milk slowly to prevent clumping.  Pour mixture over melted butter.  Do not stir.  Spoon peaches on top, gently pouring in syrup.  Sprinkle top with ground cinnamon, if desired.  Batter will rise to the top during baking.  Bake for 30 to 45 minutes until golden brown.

  2. I love cinnamon! I started liking it when I bumped into where I learned it can be healthy substituted to sugar in making coffee and I started looking for recipes. More power!
