FRED & JOHN HYDE – Conway, Missouri – 1903

scan0180aI came across an envelope that has some photos in it where the names of people are clearly written on the reverse side.  I am going to post them this week.

Above is Fred & John Hyde in a photo taken December 25, 1903 (yes, Christmas Day!) in Conway, Missouri.  My mother’s first cousin, Lois McMenus, married a Hyde, and I think these are some cousins.

  1. My family name is Hyde, but mine stayed in the UK as far as I know! I hope to blog about them sometime.

    • I am sure the Hydes in Missouri originally came from England.

  2. John and Lyra Hyde had a small farm just west of Conway that bordered the present I-44 route. They sold the farm and moved into Conway in the 1950’sor early 60’s. My dad bought their Conway house and some of its contents, including a dresser and steamer trunk that my dad gave to me. I fished in a small creek near their farm house when I was a kid.

    • Thanks for the information. A lot of the photos were from the Conway area; people that Annie and Lon Forkner and their family knew in the area.
