SEATTLE BEAUTY ON PUGET SOUND – Circa 1918

002bI have no idea who the lady in the photo is, and I wondered for decades about the name of the ship until one day on Wikipedia the mystery was solved.  Still don’t know who the lady is but she appears to be on the steamship, the Baily Gatzert, named after an early mayor of Seattle.  The steamship took daily tours up the Columbia River and through Puget Sound from the late 1890’s into the 1920’s.  Based on her skirt length and the time my great aunt’s family were living in Seattle, I would guess this photo was taken in or around 1918.
