My Brother, Larry Marlin

003cThis photo was taken about 19956-57.  My brother had just gone to work for Standard Oil gas stations, and that was his (spotlessly clean!) uniform.  How times have changed!  Back in those days, there were independent Chevron stations under the Standard Oil umbrella, but there were also many, many company owned Standard stations.  Some time in the 70’s, all that changed when all the stations became independent Chevron stations.  Larry also worked summers at the Standard Oil refinery in El Segundo, California.  He always said they dug a lot of ditches and moved a lot of barrels.  One of his fellow summer workers was Robert Redford, who made no bones about wanting to move to New York to become an actor!
