Ancient Stone Steps at Glendalough – County Wicklow, Ireland

ireland2014-14Someone told me a couple of years ago that they would never return to Ireland after having been there for a week because the country was full of “nothing but old stone ruins”.   This person obviously was not into history or the stories behind all the ruins.  I find each and every ruin fascinating, and I am glad that more and more is being written about some of these ancient sites.  These steps were obviously used to climb the stone fence!  See the cross from a burial site to the top right, amongst the trees.
