I have my own pumpkin bread recipe that I make several times each year but here is the old standard that my mother used.  It makes two standard size loaves.

3 cups sugar

3-1/3 cups sifted flour

1 teaspoon ginger

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup cooking oil

4 eggs

1-1/2 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons baking soda

1-2/3 cups pumpkin (small can)

3/4 cup water

2/3 cup finely chopped pecans or walnuts

Mix all together and pour into two prepared or paper lined loaf pans.  Bake about one hour or more if necessary at 350 degrees F.
