History of the Marlins in the U.S.

After years of research and compilations, two histories of the Marlin family have been published recently.  One is by Natalie J. McNabb Hill, whose grandmother was Edna Marlin McNabb, the sister of my grandfather, Walter Elbert Marlin.  It is spiral bound and is described as follows:  “The record contained here is a list of descendants of Archibald Martin Marlin (1757).  It is a compilation for information about a pioneer family from Missouri and Tennessee.”  There is a brief history at the beginning of the book and photographs scattered throughout.  Natalie and I are second cousins.

A second hardcover book now available is by Lynette Marlin Shockley and is titled, “Marlin Family History, Webster County, Missouri.”  It also contains histories of the Marlins in Tennessee (Archibald Marlin and Martha Ferrier) and as they settled the Marlin Prairie in what became Webster County, Missouri; also articles about early days in the county.   Many photographs are contained in the book.   My relationship to Lynette is a little more distant:  my third great grandfather, Thomas Marlin, was the brother of William Marlin, both sons of Archibald Marlin, and Lynette’s line runs from William.  I think we are fifth cousins or fifth cousins once removed.

If you are interested in either book, please send me a note and I will forward contact information.  More information about the Marlins and photographs are on this cite.  Just go to posts and search on MARLIN.
